PANEL TITLE: Measuring Effectiveness of Technology Innovations in International Development

TIG: Use and Influence of Evaluation; Secondary TIGs (Program Design; Theories of Evaluation)

ABSTRACT: Emerging technologies lack an evidence base, almost by definition. Applying the right monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) tools to get donors the evidence they need about the success of their investment, or to get innovators the learnings they need to travel the journey to scale is difficult. The challenge increases when you apply unproven technologies to unique contexts of developing countries. Our team has grappled with these issues over the last three years and we have learned a lot. This panel discussion highlights innovative technologies across sectors and continents and shares our lessons from the field.

PANELISTS:

  • Frontier Technologies (Global), Chloe Lanzara, R4D
  • Lecture Pour Tous (Senegal), Arjun Upadhyay, R4D
  • EdTech (Global), Daniel Plaut, R4D
  • THALI (India), Erin Fletcher, R4D
